Zynga Kills 11 Titles, Including a Bunch for iOS

Things have not been going too well for Zynga over the last little while. The company, which specialized in the Facebook based *Ville series of titles, has been struggling for some time. Now the company has been forced to close 11 of their more poorly performing titles, a number of which were previously available on iOS.

The big names that are no longer going to be supported are PetVille and Mafia Wars 2. The other titles that have been canned are FishVille, Forestville, Indiana Jones Adventure World, Mafia Wars Shakedown, Mojitomo, Montopia, Treasure Isle, Vampire Wars and Word Scramble Challenge. World Scramble Challenge, ForestVille, Mafia Wars Shakedown, and Montopia all had official iOS apps.

Zynga’s love of releasing very similar games with only slightly changed graphics, and heavily pushing you towards in-app purchase,s haven’t exactly endeared them to a lot of people. Users have finally cottoned on to this, and its stocks have dropped 75% 2012.

However, I’m betting it’ll take a lot more than that for people to stop playing FarmVille.
