The iPad Mini? Totally not official yet. Invitations haven’t even gone out for the announcement (that’s pegged to happen this week). So how is Zagg already selling an Apple iPad Mini Screen Protector?
In an obvious move to get pre-sales before the device is even officially announced, Zagg has added a page for the protector for the iPad Mini, which is “coming soon” for $24.99.
Zagg is actually making a relatively canny move here. Screen protectors just require to be cut from a sheet of protective material — they don’t need to be engineered from scratch like a case does. Seeing as the iPad Mini has started leaking out pretty heavily, Zagg has a rough idea of what size they’ll need the screen protectors to be. By putting up an ad in advance, Zagg gets indexed by Google sooner, and gets a lot of press. Even without necessarily having the screen protector on hand.
So when the iPad Mini gets official, they should be ready to roll.
