WWDC is short for Worldwide Developers Conference. Developers make the trek out to the Moscone Center in San Francisco to hear about new developments in Mac OS X and iOS. While the presentation is geared for developers, it’s consumers that have an eye on new features and at times hardware that gets announced. It’s widely anticipated that several lines of Apple’s computers will be updated. MacBook Pro, iMac and even the Mac Pro could see updates today.
Will they announce a new iPhone 5 or 7-inc iPad?
Not likely. The odds of seeing a new iPhone or iPad are slim.
Will they announce iOS 6?
Yes. Yes. Yes. Banners went up over the weekend emblazoned with iOS 6 with the tagline, “The most advanced mobile operating system.”
Will I be able to download iOS 6 today?
iOS 6 download links to Apple’s developer portal surfaced this weekend. There is a better then good chance that these will be live after the event. To download iOS 6 beta, you need to be a member of Apple’s developer program. While typically reserved for you know, developers, those who are daring take the $99 per year plunge in order to best Apple’s newest version of iOS.
Should I install iOS 6 on my iPhone, iPad?
Today’s iOS 6 release will be the first beta, which means it will likely have a good share of bugs. If you need you iPhone to be completely stable, then this isn’t the update for you. Apple typically goes through a number of beta phases before a public release.
Will I be able to jailbreak iOS 6?
In the past, jailbreak developers have been quick to expose possible exploits that allow for a jailbreak. Even if they find an exploit, don’t count on them releasing it to the public. They will likely not waste the exploit on an early beta, allowing for Apple to patch it before the public release. When Apple releases iOS 6 to the public, then will hopefully get a jailbreak.
I’m not a developer, can I download iOS 6?
For $99, you can be a “developer”. You can enroll here.
Will there be a live video stream of WWDC 2012?
No, Apple does not live stream their events.
Where can I get the latest news?
Of course, everythingiCafe will offer blow-by-blow coverage. Several big tech sites offer live blogs of the event, which combine super-fast typing and photos of the event. Here are a few recommended sites:

how slim is slim on a iphone 5 announcement… :p
There’s just too much to occupy the stage of WWDC. Mountain Lion, iOS 6, new Macs, Apple TV updates? No room for a new iPhone. I think we see a late summer event with release to follow. A new iPhone is deserved of it’s own event. I’m sure we’ll see plenty of references to it within iOS 6, which will get picked apart in matter of minutes after the release.
This is all speculation on my part based upon what I’ve seen leading up to WWDC. I could be wrong. That would make for one helluva conference today. Geez!
When we get a big update there’s usually hardware to go with it.
When will the public version of iOS6 be available?
“this fall”
