Where are all those Tennis fans?  Wimbledon’s in our midst.  With Wimbledon comes an iOS app built specifically for the iPhone.  This app will provide access to News, Scores, Results, Schedules, Players, Multimedia, Live streams, and more. Is it a must-have app for tennis fans? Read on and find out in our Wimbledon App for iPhone review, as we put it through the paces in advance of the start of Wimbeldon 2012.

Find all your Wimbledon news in this section of the app.  Before, during, and post Wimbledon news is presented in this section as a list.

Live Scores
This screen will show scores of past and currently being played matches.  The option to see scores from all courts, or show the courts is available.

The results screen will provide access to results for both men and women’s singles and doubles.  The pre-tournament screens show the qualifying results by day.

Want to find out who’s playing and when?  The schedule screen is perhaps my most visited screen throughout the tournament to find out who’s playing who and when.  All the courts are listed and you can currently see the day one schedule.

This is the place to learn about the Players.  Both singles and doubles players are listed.  With their listing is a photo along with a lot of other information.  From their country and birthday, all the way to their currently earned prize money and weight – one can learn a lot about their favorite player or perhaps a player they may not have heard of before.

Another great section, the multimedia screen will provide access to videos and photos from previous tournaments and the current tournaments.  Currently, a great 2012 Wimbledon introduction video is available.

Live @ Wimbledon
Possibly the best part of the app, Live @ Wimbledon provides live streaming audio access to Centre Court and No. 1 Court as well as a General Grounds feed.  Even better is a live video stream of the tournement. This means all tennis fans have no excuse to miss even a minute (of course were kidding) of Wimbledon.  I plan to use this feature often – even downloading the iPhone app on my iPad if I want to view in a bigger screen.

Like the Schedule screen, the draws screen shows the matches in a typical tournament bracket fashion.  I actually prefer to view the tournament in this way as it allows quick visibility to ‘what if’ scenario building in my head.

Find It
This very cool section of the app is great for all of you who plan to be in London in attendance for Wimbledon.  Not only will you be able to find Centre Court, you should have no problem finding Offices, all of the other courts, Park and Rides, Bathrooms and more.  Wimbledon has built a map of the grounds into the app and detailed the location of virtually everything you’ll need while your there.  I, unfortunately, wont be able to take advantage of this functionality, but for all those planning on going, get the app!

Did I mention it’s free?  That’s right, free streaming coverage and all-inclusive tournament information at no cost to you.  I truly enjoy apps that go along with sporting events or seasons that I enjoy.  Wimbledon has done a great job of making an app that’s not over the top and perfectly simple enough to use during the tournament.  At no cost to the public, what more could we want.  A clear 10/10 and an app every tennis fan should have.
