How’s this for a weird bit of news? Black Eyed Peas member (and solo artist) Will.i.am is apparently working on an accessory for the iPhone which will give you a whole new camera sensor, at least that’s according to the Telegraph. As part of his i.am+ electronics and apps label, the new accessory will give you a 14MP sensor and a better flash, to boost the image quality out of your iPhone.
Talking to the Telegraph, will.i.am said:
‘We have our own sensor and a better flash. You dock you phone into our device and it turns you smartphone into a genius-phone. We take over the camera.’
Pricing is set to be announced this week, though I can’t imagine it’ll be cheap, as camera sensors aren’t exactly cheap pieces of technology. Also, I’m very curious to see how this will even work. Will it have its own lens? If not, how will it direct the light from the iPhone’s own lens to the new sensor? Who’s making the sensor, anyway?
Look for the gadget coming available next month — and here’s hoping it’s actually useful.
