Even though you can now post to Twitter from Ping, there’s still a major problem: the URLs that iTunes generates are obnoxiously long, a major problem when trying to fit Twitter’s character limit. Which prompted MacRumors to discover that Apple owns a URL that would be ideal as a link shortener: the Spanish TLD itun.es. Apple has owned this URL for a number of years, and while there’s no definite evidence that they are plotting to turn it into their own version of bit.ly, this would be an excellent time to do so.
