Waze — the incredibly popular, free, turn-by-turn navigation app has just received an update with a killer new feature: gas prices. That’s right, it’ll tell you where to go to get cheap gas along the way to your destination, something everyone will really appreciate in the era of high gas prices.
That’s not all that’s in the new version — in fact, this version of Waze brings a whole bunch more features:
✓ Find the cheapest gas station near you or on your route (US only – coming soon internationally).
✓ Redeem Wazer-only specials on gas at participating stations (US only – coming soon internationally).
✓ Search for businesses and points of interest by category.
✓ Add a stop on the way to your final destination.
✓ Text-to-speech including street name support in 9 new languages: UK English, Spanish, Latin American Spanish, Italian, French, German, Brazilian Portuguese, Dutch, Swedish.
✓ View full turn-by-turn navigation instructions for your route by tapping the nav bar.
✓ Improved map accuracy in street corner angles.
That’s pretty incredible for a free app. It’s rumored that Apple is tapping Waze to provide the turn-by-turn directions for Maps in iOS 6, so all these new features may be a way to keep people using the main app too.
