Walmart’s Straight Talk Prepaid plans Soon Offering iPhone 5

StraightTalk Walmarts Straight Talk Prepaid plans Soon Offering iPhone 5

Walmart’s popular Straight Talk plans will include the iPhone 5 and 4 as eligible devices starting on January 11th.  Straight Talk is the highest rated no contract provider in the US.  They offer a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) Model wherein the customer obtains their own device elsewhere, and Straight Talk simply tacks on the service.

If you already have an iPhone and are looking for a pretty good no contract deal, $45 a month for unlimited talk, text, and data plan, you may want to look into this offer.  To make the deal even more appetizing, Walmart is offering a $25/month payment plan with zero interest if you purchase the iPhone from Walmart on a Walmart Credit Card.

There are  few slight downsides.  First, only the 16GB iPhone 5 or 8GB iPhone 4 are able to take advantage of this deal and work with Straight Talk.  Second, while Straight Talk is nationwide, they do not offer an LTE data service, rendering your iPhone 5′s functionality crippled.  Straight Talk does use AT&T’s network, so perhaps there is hope in the future for LTE – but that’s pure speculation.
