Okay, so the iPhone 5 has sold out through the Apple store, so rather than wait in line, you’ve decided to go looking at other sellers. Sure, you could go to your carrier, but for the first time, Wal-mart has joined in the pre-order madness.
Starting this morning at 8AM, you’ll be able to pop-in to your local Wal-mart and get your foot in the door for the launch of the device. Not only that, but Wal-mart is offering the iPhone 5 at a slightly reduced price, starting at $189.97 on contract.
9to5Mac has managed to obtain the actual documents regarding the new move, and it’s not all sunshine and roses. You’ll have to plop down $25 as a deposit, and with the phone you’ll get a $4.99 VUDU movie credit. That’s all swell, but the devil is that your local Wal-mart might not be able to offer the pre-orders today, as they have to wait for the pre-order cards to arrive in stock (which might not be until tomorrow). Also, they can’t guarantee that the phone will be available on September 21, but wil hold it for you for 10 days after they get it.
Which means, that if your Wal-mart doesn’t get enough iPhone 5s in stock to keep up with demand, then you’re stuck waiting for the next shipment, even if you pre-ordered. Ouch.
