A video has surfaced from parts reseller ETradeSupply, offering up a video look at the oft-rumored backing of the next generation iPhone. We’ve previously seen photos of the backing, but this video does a nice job of comparing the to the current iPhone 4S.
If this the actual next generation iPhone back, then rumors of a metal back will come true along with a revised and smaller dock connector. The headphone jack has also been relocated from the top to the bottom. The video suggests that Apple will use a smaller SIM card than the current microSIM card.

I HATE IT
It’s just a prototype. Besides how can you hate something when you haven’t seen the final product?
i’m definitely going to need a case to hide this ugly
So you are ok with it being taller and not wider?
i hate that it’s just taller and not wider
i hate the color of the bezel
i hate that the back has some glass and some metal
i hate that the 5 is just a stretched out ugly looking 4
i refuse to believe this is what apple came up with. but on release day if it looks like this i cant say i’ll be that surprised…
please god dont let this be it ; ;
What does moving the headphone jack do I wonder? It will just seem so weird to have it on the bottom. I am all for a bigger screen, so the device being a little taller is fine with me.
i’m guessing they needed that space up top for something that got bigger. with the ‘new’ power source i guess it just made sense.
still hoping this isnt real tho..
Just make the whole back metal. Looks stupid with the glass. Don’t mind everything else. Particularly like the “unibody” back.
I think this looks genuine, I’d gladly have it. I’m a bit put off about the whole dock change thing, what am I going to do with the 25 cables I’ve got spread across my house?
The back is a little odd looking, so let’s just hope that it’s a prototype of some description.
I’ve had plenty of iDevices open in the past, and that looks like something Apple’s machined. I like how they’ve gone back to the solid one piece frame, just be thankful that it’s not plastic. Again.
I don’t know why people complain, if you don’t like it, simple – don’t buy it.
I’m not a huge fan of this — I don’t like how it is longer but not wider; nor do I like that the headphone jack has moved to the bottom. I’m also hoping that this isn’t real; I think apple can do much better than this.
I don’t mind the looks but I sure hope they don’t change 30pin connector??? It’s been REALLY nice having all our iProducts on the same cable.
When I first saw photos of this backpiece–of both the black and the white versions–I thought it was quite unattractive, as the disparity in color between the metal and non-metal top and bottom pieces was glaring and ugly. However, I assume that was due to the lighting in the photo. In this video, the metal and non-metal parts of the back look much closer in color, and it therefore is much more appealing. On consideration, I think this is really attractive and sleek looking, an improvement on the 4/4s design, which was at one time the standard setter for smart phone design, but which is now in need of freshening up. My only complaint is the move of the earphone jack from top to bottom, but, that’s a small thing. I think this is for real, folks, and I think it will be the first iPhone I will own that I may use without a protective case! I’m looking forward to it.
