Verizon might only be offering their unlimited data plan for the iPhone for a couple of more months. Completely ignoring the mammoth backlash against AT&T for cutting theirs, Chief Financial Officer Fran Shammo said unlimited plans are “not a long-term solution.” He mooted mid-summer as the cutoff point, at which point Verizon will be moving towards tiered data plans.
While only the iPhone was mentioned by name, this will doubtless go for all smartphones, regardless of platform. Hopefully Verizon will do the at least vaguely decent thing, and grandfather in customers currently on the plan.

The one thing I love about the iphone or any smartphone for that matter was not having to worry about how much data we were using. This really sucks.
