As reported by our sister site EverythingAndroid a few weeks ago, and confirmed by SAI Verizon is killing their “New Every Two” discount program, just in time for the Verizon iPhone 4. If you were on the program, Verizon would give you up to $100 every two years to help you get the latest and greatest phone from Big Red. However, on January 16, this program will expire, so no new users can get on board, including the raft of new customers expected to get new or renewed contracts to grab the iPhone.
If you were already a “New Every Two” user with an old phone, you can still put your credit towards an iPhone 4, but you won’t be able to opt into the program again — so you might want to hang on to your old phone until the iPhone 5 is announced in a couple of months.

With all of the debate over Android powered devices vs. iOS powered devices, this definitely signals that the iPhone is a way more sought after product. In many cases, Android devices are given away or are offered at steep discounts. I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen a new generation iPhone go on sale. That’s part of why app developers like us focus on the phone that gets the mind share of consumers.
