Verizon iPhone 4 Teardown Reveals GSM Support

The teardown artists at iFixit have taken their set of tools to the Verizon iPhone 4. One of the more interesting findings is the existence of the Qualcomm MDM6600, which is the same chipset used in the Droid Pro. The big news is that it supports both GSM and CDMA, meaning Apple/Verizon could have theoretically supported GSM with the iPhone 4. The Verizon iPhone has not SIM card slot, so while the chip supports GSM, it won’t become a reality with this iPhone, but perhaps the iPhone 5.
