Verizon Announces “Share Everything” Shared Data Plan

Finally acknowledging that it’s bizarre to require a separate data plan for each item you own, Verizon has just unveiled Share Everything — a suite of plans that allow you to share your data and minutes over multiple devices:

Share Everything Plans include unlimited voice minutes, unlimited text, video and picture messaging and a single data allowance for up to 10 Verizon Wireless devices.

The natural next evolution in the family plan, that combines smartphones, feature phones, and tablets onto a single plan. As a positive, mobile hotspots are included for free.

You can see the pricing structure breakdown above. You pay for each additional device as well as the plan itself, so a family of two smartphones, a dumbphone, and two iPads would be paying $130 a month in addition to the data charges.

With any luck, the other major carriers will follow suit, and we’ll see more plans like this in the near future.

I’m having a hard time seeing the savings?

Work up some before and after examples to show how this really makes sense. I expected to see 5 gigs for $50 not 1 gig for $50.

Awesome, I look forward to all the customers that find this ridiculous
to come buy a phone from me :-)

    ..FAIL@ Verizon Wireless!!

I’m looking forward to seeing this FAIL on behalf of Verizon Wireless add to the volume at my store. Why would you pay $50 for ONE gigabyte of data spread across 10 lines…or even 5 lines…or even 2 lines?? AT&T’s 3GB of data for $30 per line sounds so much better.

    This made my day.
