Untethered iOS 6, iPhone 5 Dream Jailbreak Teased For December 22nd

The jailbreak world has been quiet over the last few months — we haven’t seen much advancement on the new Apple devices or version of iOS. But a new website is promising a complete and total untether jailbreak for iOS 6 on the iPhone 5, iPad, iPad mini, and more. Meet Dream JB.

The person behind Dream Jailbreak is remaining in the shadows, but is promising to release video and image proof tomorrow, with the actual jailbreak being released into the wild on December 22nd.

There’s not a lot we know about it right now. According to the FAQ, it utilizes a vulnerability in Webkit, which is then exploited by an application. Unfortunately, “As this is a userland exploit, it will be patched quickly by Apple in future iOS versions.”

Since we know so little (read: nothing) about this jailbreak and how it works, or the guy behind it, it may pay to be a bit wary. Visiting a known exploit filled website, then using a special application could potentially be asking for trouble. I’m not saying this guys a scammer, but maybe give the whole thing a week or two to work out any kinks before giving it a try.
