Twitter Updates iPad UI, Profile Pages

Twitter has just announced some major design overhauls for both the iPad and for profile pages on all devices. The iPad version of the app has been rebuilt “from the ground up”, and features more support for large images, and the newly overhauled profile pages.

Gone is the sliding cards interface from previous versions of the app, instead with the new edition comes a large “header” image that looks like nothing so much as what Facebook and Google+ are already doing. The redesign was announced on the Today show, but the new version has already met with mixed reviews. SAI has accused Twitter of ruining the app, comments at The Verge have been heavily negative, and our own Chris Meinck is not a fan.

Unfortunately, the pressure that Twitter has placed on others developing their own Twitter apps means that there is going to be a shortage of other apps challenging Twitter on their own turf.

If you want to update your own page with a header image, you can do it from here.
