The current iOS Tumblr app is a lackluster affair. It only works for the iPhone, won’t let you view large images, doesn’t handle GIFs well (which is a huge amount of Tumblr’s content), and crashes all the time. In other words — it’s just not very good. Take heard, Tumblr addicts, because things might be improving very, very soon.
At the F.ounders conference, Tumblr CEO David Karp just said that a brand new iOS app is coming out this week. Unfortunately, we don’t know any details, except that there won’t be ads to start with, but that they will be rolled out eventually.
It’s not an awful lot to go on, but given how ludicrously popular Tumblr is right now, any change is an improvement. Here’s just hoping it’s actually better than the current offering.
