TiVo today announced the official launch of the TiVo Stream, a diminutive box that when combined with a TiVo Premiere, allows users to stream up to 4 shows on iPads, iPhones or iPads. This all happens without interruption to the television being used with the TiVo Premiere.
The fun doesn’t stop there. TiVo Stream will also allow for downloading of previously DVR’ed content, which you can talk on-the-go. A one hour show can take as little as 15 minutes to download, depending upon quality.
Finally, consumers can have the flexibility they have long demanded by enjoying their favorite entertainment content anywhere — be it at home, in the air, or on-the-road,” said Jim Denney, GM and VP of Product Marketing for TiVo Inc. “With the launch of TiVo Stream, we are ushering in a new era of flexibility, empowering our users to watch their recorded entertainment regardless of location. The ability to quickly and easily stream content to second screens like smartphones and tablets via the TiVo app helps TiVo users get even more from their TV-watching experience.”
TiVo Stream requires one of the follow TiVo Premiere boxes:
- TiVo Premiere
- TiVo Premiere XL
- TiVo Premiere 4
- TiVo Premiere XL4 (previously Premiere Elite)
These new features are supported with version 2.0 of the TiVo app, available for free in the App Store. TiVo Stream is priced at $129.99 and is available at TiVo.com, Best Buy and other major retailers.

Tivo is a business of liars thieves and cheats. They openly admit that I have not had a unit with them since May 2011, but want money from me because I never “formally” called to cancel. How about “I don’t have to pay for what I did not use.” They are turning my bill for $6.95 over to a credit agency! Hahahaha! Assholes.
