Tim Cook’s been visiting China for the last few days, but what has he been up to on his journey to the Middle Kingdom? For one, it looks like he’s visited some Apple stores and the headquarters of China Telecom, apparently to talk the next generation of iPhone. China is a market with huge potential for Apple, and the last few years have seen the company aggressively target that nation. Earlier on the trip, Cook also visited China Unicom.
What’s also interesting is that Cook visited a Foxconn factory, which comes at curious time in the interactions between the two companies. Since Mike Daisey’s reports on the horrors of working at Foxconn, there has been a backlash-backlash, with people now citing Foxconn as a pretty decent place to work — for a factory in China. Hopefully, Cook is still devoted to improving the lot of workers, just without false claims being levied against him.
