Freelance designer Tim Van Damme has put together a wonderful argument for his ideal tablet, and I’ve got to admit, it’s a tempting proposition. He’s imagining a tablet that could slot into an iMac case with additional hardware to create a desktop, or a laptop body, or just be used as a tablet. As he freely admits, it’s something we’d never see. But I’m a sucker for modular design, and the ability to have convertible levels of power like that would be incredibly cool!
Each station would add various amounts of extra hardware abilities as appropriate to their form. I just want to throw my tablet into an iMac shell, get a massive speed boost, throw it on a laptop base and get longer batteries, and then just carry it as the tablet for ultimate portability. Stuff of dreams.

With all this talk of tablets you guys are forgetting, this stuff has been around for years. motioncomputing.com . check it out. I had one of these back in 2004!! I understand Apple does it big but come on. They are not re-inventing the wheel. Nor does this article. We have seen this before and now 6 years later they are tagging it as their own design. Wack.
