The last few months have seen the entire idea of a smartwatch explode over Kickstarter. There was the Pebble and then the Cookoo, and now comes the MetaWatch Strata. Unlike some of the other examples, MetaWatch is an already existing company with models for sale, but the Strata is more badass than those.
For one, it’s waterproof (which is pretty awesome) and can display multiple widgets that can tell you the time, the weather, alert you of notifications, let you control your music, and more. It packs an accelerometer, light sensor, six programmable buttons, and can even buzz you if you’ve left behind your phone.
The downside? I can’t say I’m a huge fan of the design. The screen looks like it was salvaged from an original tamagotchi, plus it’s very large.
If, however, you’re interested, backing for $169 should get you one.
