How’s this for an incredible mod? Simeon Nasilowski noticed his leather Smart Cover was discoloring, so decided to take it a step further, and intentionally stain it himself. He started by brewing espresso, painting it on the cover and then drying. After a few coats, he wasn’t too impressed, and went a step further: he rubbed freshly ground coffee beans into the leather, darkening it further.
While leather and coffee sounds like it should smell amazing, he describes it as “a strong unpleasant mix,” which has thankfully faded. Apparently the stain doesn’t come off on Simeon’s hands, but can be scraped off with keys and the like, which just adds to its patina.
Hmm…I wonder if this would work with my black leather one?

WOW! NICE!! If he was selling these, I’d buy one!
Nice Job SImeon!
I guess I can do it myself to the cream colored leather Smart Cover. I have been wanting a brown one but Apple doesn’t make it.
Thanks for the idea! Again, Nice Job! Looks awesome!
Get some leather oil, or mink oil, and rub into the tan leather.
It will darken, and look better. Way better.
