Today the actual, in the USA, legal battle between Apple and Samsung has begun. It’s pretty much one big old fight between the two to prove that the other was copying. Here’s a bit of what we’ve heard this morning.

For one, Apple rebutted Sony-like device that came to light last week by showing an even older prototype dubbed “Purple” that looks far more iPhone-like. The Sony argument will not be allowed.

In the same vein, here are some super-early sketches and renderings of possible designs that are pretty nifty.

On the more directly litigious front, the Verge has an excellent breakdown of the legal basis for the narrative that both sides will present. In terms of what’s actually going to go down, it really helps show where the arguments may lie.

Apparently the jury vetting is also tricky, as Google and Apple both have very large spheres of influence in the Bay Area — so trying to find impartial jurors without ties to either may be slow going.
