According to a Verizon memo available on their site (PDF), the company plans to start throttling data speeds of their heavy users. This is defined as those who consume "an extraordinary amount of data" and they make up 5% of Verizon's customer base. Verizon Wireless strives to provide customers the best experience when using our network, a shared resource among tens of millions of customers. According to Engadget's well placed sources, Apple's new devices will start using Qualcomm chipsets and this will start with the Verizon iPhone. The AT&T iPhone 4 currently uses an Infineon chipset. The sources also claim that the iPad 2, which has been rumored to launch early this year, is not close to being launched. This comes as good news for those who picked up the iPad as a holiday gift. What’s Different About The Verizon iPhone?

Well, not an awful lot, but there are a few key differences. For one, you won't be able to do simultaneous voice and data connections, so if you're on the phone, you can't load an app. However, there is one major new feature, which is incredibly cool: wireless hotspots. The Verizon iPhone 4 can function as a mini-wireless network for up to 5 devices, sharing its 3G connection between them. The only problem is that if you get an incoming call, I imagine you'll drop the data connection, and all five of those devices will lost their internet. The other change is a slight change to the antenna design, where the break in the top antenna has been moved from the top of the phone to the side.
