Apple spent quite a bit of time talking about the design philosophy of iOS 7 along with some of the big new features that include Control Center. As with previous versions of iOS, what we see today will evolve over the new few weeks and months. There will be a host of new unannounced features that will be flushed out during the beta period. It’s also possible that new features are being held back, as they would reveal a new iPhone. There were a few features that were not mentioned, but instead glossed over during the wide-ranging demonstration of the […]
Apple today announced a feature that had previously been available on jailbroken iPhones and ahem, Android. Apple now offers access to important features like WiFi, Bluetooth and more. Often referred to as quick toggles, here’s how to use to Control Center on iPhone and iPad in iOS 7.
The big news regarding iOS 7 transitioning to a new flat design isn’t big news at all, despite headlines which would like you to believe otherwise. It’s been a slow news cycle, made worse by the lack of new iPhones, iPads and new hardware in general. I’m not counting the 16GB camera-less iPod touch, while new, is a blip on the radar. That’s not changing next week either, with any new hardware likely to be on the Mac front. What is on the agenda for next week is the introduction of iOS 7 in all of its black, white and […]
When Apple introduces iOS 7 to the masses on Monday, June 10th, it’s widely anticipated that with a new black, white and flat coat of paint will come some major design changes to apps we all know and love. Ok, maybe there isn’t love for some of the apps. Yes, we’re looking at you Newsstand and Stocks. If rumors are true, the war on skeumorphism is underway in Cupertino, led by Jony Ive and others who share a distaste for felt-ridden apps. Which apps will see the most changes? We’ll find out more next month at WWDC, but these top […]
According to multiple sources who were in contact with Mark Gurman at 9to5Mac, Apple’s iOS 7 will feature a move to much flatter design, a move that is being driven by Jony Ive. There has been plenty of chatter of the differing opinions within Apple regarding skeuomorphic designs. Ive, whose SVP of Industrial Design, is also now in charge of interface design, taking over for the departed Scott Forstall, is said to be firmly entrenched in the flat design camp. Back in March, the Wall Street Journal reported that Ive was pushing for the move to flat design. The ‘leather […]
With WWDC 13 announced for June 10-14, the discussion in the Apple community shifts from rumored hardware to the next major update to iOS. iOS 7 will be front and center at Apple’s developer conference in June, but little is known in the way of possible new features. Apple has historically included hundreds of improvements, with a few major features that are promoted as game changing. They’ve done a good job of bringing customers who own older iPhones along for the ride, offering the latest updates, save for a few features that are reserved for new hardware. It wouldn’t be […]
