Supposed iPad 3 Rear Casing Surfaces, Larger Battery On Board?

According to RepairLabs via MacRumors, they are claiming to have a photo of the rear casing of the iPad 3. The photo shows a direct comparison with the iPad 2 casing, providing some insight into what we could see when the iPad is released.

The width of the housing for the iPad 3 is smaller, suggesting that the added space will be utilized for a larger battery. This could provide the iPad 3 with extended battery life. However, depending upon the display and processor utilized, the larger battery might be needed to simply offset the power needed for the rumored A6 processor and high resolution display. We’ve also heard rumors of 4G LTE support, again more reason for increasing the size of the battery.

The camera is also rumored to be different, which is something we’ve heard previously. The rear casing does indicate that Apple will use a new LCD display on the iPad 3, but it’s not possible based on this photo to determine whether it will be a retina-level display.

It’s impossible to know if this is the real deal or not, but it’s not the first time we’ve heard someone has had some interaction with the purported rear casing of the iPad 3.
