A few weeks back we told you about the Steve Jobs action figure that was coming out in February, despite Apple’s lawyers attempting to stop sales claiming “any toy which resembles the company’s logo, person’s name or likeness is a violation of their rights”. Reports today that In Icon, the Chinese manufacturer behind the figurine, has suspended all plans for production after immense legal pressure.
“Unfortunately we have received immense pressure from the lawyers of Apple and Steve Jobs family,” said Tandy Cheung from In Icon.
The company issued a statement saying,
“Though we still believe that we have not overstepped any legal boundaries, we have decided to completely stop the offer, production and sale of the Steve Jobs figurineĀ out of our heartfelt sensitivity to the feelings of the Jobs family.“
If you must have one of these now extremely rare action figures, one retailer on eBay is looking to capitalize on the news offering the limited run action figure for $1500.
