When Apple released AppleCare+, it put the screws down on third-party insurers, who previously had been there to pick up the slack for damage that Apple wouldn’t cover. Now perennial favorite SquareTrade has upped their game, and will still cover your iPhone, even if it’s jailbroken.
As reported by CNET, this change works retroactively for all policy holders, and for all people buying them new. So while jailbreaking your phone will technically void your warranty with Apple, if the unthinkable happens and you brick it, SquareTrade will still have you covered. SquareTrade has tacitly been doing this for some time, but only now is publicly declaring it.
