Just a few days ago Sprint dropped the price on the iPhone 4S by $50, but it looks like that won’t be enough. According to 9to5, Sprint is also now handing out $100 American Express Reward Cards with a 16GB iPhone 4S on a two-year contract. That’s $150 out the door, and then $100 back in your pocket for an overall cost of just $50 for a 16GB 4S.
Even more awesome than that is that word that this will fall under Apple’s price matching scheme. According to Business Insider, Apple will match the Sprint deal, and instead give you $100 in store credit. Sure, the AmEx card will probably be useful in more places, but if you want a different network, it’s the best option.
This is an incredible deal and the confluence of a price-drop and a great deal from Sprint for all smartphones. Unfortunately, the deal only runs until 8/26, so will definitely not still be around when the iPhone 5/new iPhone launches in September. While we still don’t recommend picking up the iPhone 4S with the iPhone 5 on the horizon, but $50? That’s ludicrously affordable — maybe if you’re looking for a phone to send with your kid to college this Fall…
