Sprint has thrown its lot fully behind the iPhone, and according to its SEC 10-K filing for the year, they’ve signed on to purchase $15.5,000,000,000 in iPhones from Apple. That’s $15.5 billion. With a b. According to TNW, at an average of $630 per phone, that amounts to something near the region of 23.8 million iPhones.
In October, Sprint already promised to purchase 30.5 million iPhones over the course of four years, and here they are hitting the vast majority of that number in just one year.
Keep in mind, Sprint only sold 1.8 million iPhones in Q4 of 2011 — offloading thirteen times that in a year is going need an almost fourfold increase in sales. That’s a lot of ground to make up.

Hopefully Apple is encouraging Sprint to also make completing Network Vision a priority.
Another round of new iPhones in the fall is just going to exacerbate Sprint’s crippled 3G data speed issues…..
