Sprint Drops Price On iPhone 4S

Quietly, and without much fanfare, Sprint has lowered the price of the iPhone 4S. Not only has the carrier knocked $50 off the sticker price, but is also waiving the $36 activation fee  — that’s a total of $86 off what the phone usually goes for.

The speculation is that Sprint is trying to burn through its stocks of the model in advance of Apple announcing a new iPhone in September. Apple is expected to announce the next edition on September 12th, with the iPhone being released a week after that. Deals like this allow retailers to clear up space for the newer device.

However, with the new iPhone looming very near on the horizon, I’d recommend against buying the iPhone 4S, even at a reduced price. $86 in savings isn’t really worth being a year behind the gadget curve.

  1. Wow, prices are indeed getting lower! The first major sign that the iPhone 5 is coming to town. The rush and the low prices are good actually. The reason why I have received free iPhone cases just a couple of days ago.
