Some iPhone users are reporting that the Retina Display on their brand spanking new iPhone 4s are defective. This thread over at the Apple support forums shows some of the discussions. They appear to be brown or yellow blobs that are found near the edges of the screen. One user described is as:
On the bottom 10% of the screen there are 3 blotches about the size of shirt buttons that discolor the screen a brown/yellow color.
If you are planning on picking up yours in-store (rather than via pre-order), see if you can’t turn it on while there, and make sure there are no problems with the screen. That way, if you do see the blotches, you’ll be able to get it swapped ASAP.

I received mine today and I have this error, I am so sad now, will send it back
I got mine on Wed and theres a silver streak along the left side of the screen..i called Apple & they said take it to my local Apple store to replace..the apple store said they dont know when they are getting component parts for the iphone 4 and to try back next week, i explained it was being replaced not fixed and he said it didnt matter, its the same thing..does that sound right..suggestions?
I got two via FedEX today (mine and the wife’s) and both, yes BOTH….. are just perfect and awesome….. and were very easy to set up.
The Retina Display is really awesome too. I really can tell a huge improvement in text… reading emails and web pages!

It might not be so easy to check it in store. My yellow blotches only start appearing when the phone has been in use for a bit. I’ve booked a genius bar appointment for tomorrow – I’ll let you know how it goes.
