Why Setup iPhone As New

How long have you been using your old iPhone? Years? During that time, you’ve accumulated apps, pushed various software updates, taken pictures, uploaded movies and everything that goes with enjoying one of the most awesome phones on the planet. Your trusty iPhone has served you well, so you’re thinking, why not take the easy way out and restore. Here are just a few reasons why restoring as new is a great option.

  • The dreaded ‘Other’ is using up storage space. It’s one of the main reasons why people restore as new, even with an older device. Over time, the ‘Other’ storage can collect data, Safari cache and miscellaneous cruft. Think of starting new as a bit of a spring cleaning.
  • Are you an app hoarder? Still rocking apps you downloaded when the App Store first opened. It’s time to let go of apps that no longer matter, which don’t improve your mobile experience.
  • If you’ve had problems in the past, restoring could very well re-introduce these issues to a brand new iPhone.

Is this easy? Sure. I’m not going to say it’s as easy as restoring from a backup from iTunes or iCloud. Apple has perfected the restore process. You can literally walk out of the Apple Store and in a matter of minutes, your data, apps and settings start flowing into your new iPhone 6. But hey, this is your new iPhone 6. I’m guessing you don’t have a problem spending a weekend gazing into the retina HD display and having the best of times. Why not take this time to make it your own. If you’re wondering, I’m doing the very same thing with both my new iPhone 6 Plus and my wife’s iPhone 6.
