Confirming what we heard late last month, Google’s Eric Schmidt has straight out confirmed that Google and Apple will still be working together on the next iteration of iOS. Talking at the AllThingsD D9 Conference, Schmidt mentioned a lot of very interesting stuff, not the least of which was that the two companies were working together again for maps and search on iOS.
As spotted by 9to5, Schmidt said that Apple and Google had just renewed their relationship for Maps, and that their search deal was still in place.
What else did Schmidt talk about? He hinted the iPhone would get NFC through Google in the near future. He also blames himself for the social networking problems of Google, and that they couldn’t get Facebook to play well with Google.
