The current crop of rumors indicates that at Apple’s big event on September 1st, we’re going to see two new iPods: a refresh of the iPod Touch, and a brand spanking new miniature version of the Nano (though it’s sized like the shuffle).
AppleInsider’s sources have given them some details about the Nano, and what they’ve found out, is that even though the device is the same size as the old, square, Shuffles, it’ll still have a proper 30-pin dock connector. Current iPod Shuffles charge and transfer information through a specially modified USB-headphone connection.
iLounge has some details on the potentially new iPod Touch 4, which will see a minor change to the rear of the device. According to their sources, it won’t be as curvy as the current Touch, nor as flat as an iPhone 4. Instead, they liken it to the top of a MacBook Pro, so it curves early, then flattens out. Also, it turns out the device may not have an LED flash, but instead a microphone in that location.
