Yeah, not seeing it. I call linkbait.
Three guys and a podcast are saying that Apple is planning on combining Safari and iTunes into one unholy amalgamation, with iTunes functioning as an entirely cloud based service, within the app:
It is believed that Safari will be the only browser able to access iTunes, as iTunes is built into the browser itself. “Moving iTunes organizational side-bar into Safari isn’t a monumental task” claimed a source, adding “Safari would skyrocket in use as a result of integrating the software titles together.”
They’re claiming that this will happen at Apple’s Fall iTunes event.
I call BS. We’re all hoping that Apple unveils iTunes.com or something similar in the near future, but making it Safari only? That would be suicide.

I honestly don’t think it would be suicide… A lot of people own idevices and you must use itunes to have music on them. Each device comes installed with safari so I don’t see how it will hurt them in any way… If your on a computer it is not hard to have a couple different browsers either.
Yeah… and then the anti-trust guys go all Sherman Act on Apple ass ala Microsoft. Remember?
I don’t see this happening. But if it does, it will either be really really awesome, or really, really horrible.
Ya I honestly don’t see the big deal either. If they just made safari a tab on iTunes who could really object? Or vise versa.
Cause like everyother browser safari has vulnavilties and most people. Keep they cc info on they iTunes. Who is to say that a virus for a browser won’t give them Accra to iTunes?
