Rolling Stone, the aging face of the rock and roll generation, has finally joined much of the rest of the publishing world, and transitioned to Newsstand for iOS users. You can now grab Rolling Stone magazine on your iPhone or iPad as either a single issue for $4.99, a year subscription for $19.99, or a monthly recurring subscription for $1.99.Since Rolling Stone is such a music heavy publication, the magazine has done something very cool — all the music mentioned and reviewed has embedded iTunes samples, and links to buy directly from iTunes. So if Rolling Stone gives something an incredible review, it’s simply one click to buy the album.
However, there is one thing that’s bound to frustrate current Rolling Stone readers — subscribers to the print edition don’t get free access to it on the iPad. Sorry folks, if you want the digital version, you’ll have to pay for it separately.
