I already left my phone in this jacket out on lawn furniture under a water sprinkler accidentally. I feel that it kept the water out of my phone because it was upside down. As for use, the only con I see is the the ringer-off sliding button is hard to use with the jacket on. The case is useful to aid your grip on the phone. And it gives some good protection on the corners of the phone.
