This is way better than any HTC Mobile 6.0 I've ever used. Well worth the money, internet speed is fast!!! I've owned the Treo's and the HTC 8125. I wouldn't compare...iPhone is the best!

Overall I am not that impressed. There seems to be a lot of bugs, the internet connection over AT&T is extremely slow, the YouTube has limited functionality, the speakerphone is not nearly loud enough, and several other issues that I think are specific to my phone.

I have been synching my iCal with a Motorola RAZR and while useful, it was not the best. E-mail on a cell phone is a joke. I always felt like an electronics store with feet. My bag has an MacBook, iPod, cell phone and all the attendant chargers. Now I can drop two of the three, and on more occasions than most, all of them. No longer needing to take my MacBook so I can check and respond to e-mail or browse the internet is a huge plus for me. I always have a cell phone, so now I always have access to e-mail and the web.

I have had a couple of crashes with Safari, and the iPod function as well. I am fortunate to be close to a AT&T tower at home and work, so the EDGE is fairly quick for me. I think it would be great if I could access my iTunes for ring tones, that would be a great addition. Also, for me, the ringer could be louder. The vibration could also be a bit more vigorous.

As a long time Apple user, I know that many of the glitches which have shown up so far will be taken care of by Apple patches. And fairly quickly I would bet. All rev a products will have some hiccups right out of the box, but I am very pleased at how few I have had with my new iPhone.

they'll need a 12 step program for this soon

Completely in love with this thing. I spend so much time on it and the battery life is great. It does take a long time to charge, but the stamina as I play on it all throughout the day is great.

The iPhone knows the way I talk! Typing was one of my big worries, but you get really good at it really fast; and the effects of it's adaptive dictionary are seen immediately.

It's so practical and intuitive!

I'll admit there are a few things that i wish were different. For one, saving images off the web would be nice. Also, multiple calendars (like in iCal) would be nice too. A simple solution would be to just color code the dot indicating an event, or color coding the event title. In iCal, I make good use out of the color coded calendars, and that's not something that was transferred over when sync'd to my iPhone.

Screen smudge may be seen when the display is turned off (and you're holding it at the angle where background light shines directly off of it into your eyes), but is definitely NOT a problem while you're using it.

The iPhone is one of the greatest pieces of technology I've ever got my hands on (the others on my list are all made by Apple too). I am 100% satisfied with my purchase.

I've waited a really long time for a cell phone to be 100% compatible with my Mac. Syncing with my Calendars, Mailboxes, Music, and Contacts could not have been easier. I was registered and updated in less than an hour. (I do however miss the Firewire syncing of days way past).

Things I am quite impressed with:

  1. Keyboard technology is way cool although the spelling feature could be better. If you hit the wrong key it fixes it, but if you can't spell, like me, then you are out of luck. It does not fix it or even tell you mispelled it.

  2. The internet is the most impressive. I don't mind reading long emails on it and the network is not as slow as I thought it would be.

  3. The phone is beautiful. Apple sure does have a great design team.

  4. Uses the same iPod connectors, so no need to get additional car charger.

Now I'm waiting to be able to...

  1. Change ringtones - especially the ability to use songs already on the iPhone without having to purchase special ringtones

  2. Games

  3. Voice Recorder

  4. Speed dialing and/or voice recognition

  5. Cut and paste

  6. To-do list

  7. iChat

  8. Flash

  9. dd/change widgets

Finally one small complaint is having to buy a new car audio cable because the stereo cable does not fit in the headjack because it is recessed lower.

Overall, I love the phone, I am glad I bought it and I can't wait to see what is in store for it in the future.

People who complain about slow GSM/GPRS/EDGE speeds musg not know what it is like to use most Blackberry & Palm Treo devices. Those of us that have, we are overjoyed at now having WiFi as another option.

Sure, there are some software improvements to be made, but this may be the best Version 1.0 device that has ever shipped throughout all of history. Period.

It is now a whole new ballgame, and Apple has sold 20% of their target for the year in just one day. Beat that!!!!!!!

It's an amazing phone and is unlike anything i have ever seen or used. Yea i saw all the commercials and videos but its totally different when you have in it real life and your the one pinching at the pictures to resize them and typing on a virtual keyboard.

I think they did a fantastic job with the phone. If this was a normal phone and not a smart phone and was half the cost, it would be 5 stars across the board at launch.

My main concern is the lack of consistency in the software. Sometimes back buttons are top left, sometimes bottom left. The screen works in landscape/widescreen mode...sometimes. The landscape cover flow mode, for example, lacks features and abilities you'd expect. The iPod side of things is much more difficult to use than a regular ipod and simplicity is what made us all buy the iPod in the first place.

Safari crashes. It flat out does not really support "AJAX" in any useful manor. Google Reader will not load in full mode, talk will not work at all, Gmail and calendar are buggy. Safari is in a big need of a patch. The inclusion of separate YouTube and Maps apps - while cool - is a band aid to fix safari. Ideally there should be a whole slew of applications available soon. Where's the MMS? Where's the ringtones?

Add in ATT's poor signal in my area and poor support on the phone (Monday through Friday for techs) that is still preventing me from receiving text message out of network and I find it lacking.

Can Apple fix most of these mistakes - beyond ATT as a poor choice of carrier? Absolutely. I'm looking for at least some sign of Apple's willingness to deal with some of these issues in patches.

I worry many people might be experiencing cognitive dissonance and are frozen to recognize the issues as legitimate concerns that Apple must address. Being an Apple apologist doesn't help get any issues fixed and doing so wont help Apple sell or not sell another iPhone - at this point people's minds are made up. If Apple really wants a second wave of purchases, they'd better get codin'.

PHONE- works well as a phone, its new easy and fun.

IPOD-lack of options really hurt it in the long run but its set up outstandingly

INTERNET- surprising...you cant complain seeing this good of internet on a phone

BUNDLED SOFTWARE-not enough here to keep you interested

VALUE- 2 words "worth it"

All in all, this is the best phone you can buy right now, the only flaw is the limited options, while the touch screen is extremely entertaining and works well, the lack of buttons creates a lack of options and not being able to completely customize your phone is sad. It is simply more of a business toy than a phone, if your happy with the phone you have now i wouldn't recommend it...but if your looking for a new high quality phone, look no further.

I can't believe all of the whiners who complain about what the iPhone can't do. Sure, no WiFi transfers or Bluetooth file exchange sucks; as does all the other things I'd love to have it do that it doesn't, but my god; it's the best phone I've ever used. And that's exactly why I bought it, so I wouldn't feel like breaking my Treo every time I used it! Apple Rules! Windows Mobile? What a Joke! I can't wait to see what Apple gives us in the way of software updates. As for me... I'm 100% happy!

BTW... the keyboard is way better than any I've used before. Steve Ballmer can... well, you all know what he and his fat mouth can do!
