i honestly have no complaints
We can all nit-pick anything in life. but really, for a first generation and the first of its kind... it is an amazing product. Yes, of course there could be faster internet with edge (but we have to remember that the speed of the network has nothing to do with the phone itself and actually is the service providers issue.. and also i'm sure that will get faster as time goes by.) and you could have more hard drive space (i'm sure that will be added later. right now, i haven't even filled half of my 8 GB... and i don't plan on filling it up with music, since i have two other ipods to just play music. this is my PHONE for goodness sake! :-) ) i've had no issues with the phone feature itself... it sync'd up to all my calendars, contacts, etc. without a hitch. it paired with my existing bluetooth headset without any trouble... and the battery life is much better than i expected it to have. (i mean.. seriously.. with that LARGE of a screen, you're not going to get 15 days of battery life when it's illuminated all the time.. not if you don't want to have a 17 pound phone! :-P )
So i give my iPhone an enthusiastic A+. I'm sure Apple will continue to improve this product... just the same that they have come so far with their computers, operating systems, etc. I'm certain that we are seeing a glimpse of the future here!
Very Very Impressive
I live and breath gadgets - and this one - is in a league of its own. Of course, it's not perfect- but what application or piece of hardware ever is? It is such a true pleasure to use this device. For me, the "knock it out of the park" is the touch screen in combination with the full browser capability. Of course, flash capability will need to be added - but I assume Apple is working on that as we speak. The only real challenge I have, is to try to find a case that does it justice. In a nutshell, this device is just a pleasure to use. Thank you Apple, for all your efforts! Bravo!!!
Hold the hype, please.
'Wow!' factor aside, this device is far from perfect. Storage capacity is inadequate. I'm sure a 20 or 40 GB unit will be in stores by Christmas, leaving us first-gen owners with obsolete gear. I had to re-set my iPhone on day #2 after is constantly crashed. Now, I'm getting an annoying white rectangular box over web pages. Another re-set will have to be done. And, AT&T's claims for the fewest dropped calls does not describe my experience. I get poor coverage where I live (Windermere) and work (Orlando). Still, this is an elegant device with jewel-like precision. I'm hoping for software updates in the very near future to solve my problems.
Almost Perfect
I love the my iPhone. It does everything very well. The only thing I dont like is the poor volume on the "phone" part of it. I cant hear it ring on MAX volume outside. The speaker phone aspect is horrible as well. Other than that iPhone is perfect! The internet runs fast and smooth. The video quality is fantastic. The ease of use is excellent for someone as myself who has never played with a mac.
Everything I wanted it to be and more
After waiting sooo long, and on line for 15hours, it is everything that I wanted it to be. I love it!
Hummm
A beautiful piece of hardware but it should have come with a radio, GPS, 3G, and at least a stylus for us fat fingered guys.
I like it but if no apps come I"ll be selling it fast. Also needs ability to make owe ringtones.
I've waited for this device for a long time
I've been waiting and looking for a device like the iPhone for a very long time. After getting through some tedious activation issues I can truly say this device is a pleasure to use. Last night I attended a family gathering and it was the hit of the evening and today I sent the iPhone out with my wife to a networking event as a "field test". It was good I did. Even with the slower EDGE network it saved the meeting as they we're supposed to have Wi-Fi provided but it wasn't working and my wife as the only one who had Internet access. For that reason alone I'm glad we bought it when we did. I do wish we could access a directory structure so I could download files into a secure location and transfer them to my laptop for on the road projects.
I've also have not been able to transfer photos to iPhoto for some reason. When I was at the at&t store I did buy a DLO Jam Jacket. It's a black silicon sleeve with raised grips on the side. I recommend getting a good cover like that for protect and easy handling.
SO FAR, SOOOOOOOOO GOOD
I just got my iphone on sat. I'm just fascinated by the touch-screen and the fact that the device has a sensor to drop to landscape--it will never cease to amaze me. where do i start? i haven't made an outgoing call, yet. I have received calls, though. it's great, haven't dropped a call, yet. I'm a bit disappointed that i can only add albums purchased via iTunes. that's quite alright because i will still be using my 60gb video iPod. the only error I've gotten so far is viewing websites. I've gotten kicked out of sites. But that's no biggie for me. I find the mail, calendar, weather, notes and camera options to be wonderful! the 2megapixel cam takes good pics--surprisingly.
All in all, i don't regret purchasing the iPhone. and i'm tired of people giving negative comments about it. apple creates quality products and i hope they continue to do.
Nicely Done
I love every aspect of the iPhone, and it has almost everything that a person could ask for in a phone. There are 2 things that made me kinda angry at the iPhone. First was the inability to be able to put you own ringtones on the phone, through Bluetooth and MMS. I think that is a joke, I spent 600 on a phone and I cant personalize it like I want to. Secondly, there is no chatting feature on the phone, through which you can use your AIM buddy list or whatever you use. I am hoping that Apple with come out with an update of these two mishaps so that the iPhone will be even better.
Everything I had hope for ...
After months of waiting it's really hard to believe that the iPhone could meet all my expectations, but it did - and more. I was fearful that the ease of use displayed in the ads may be deceptive, or that any touch pad could be so responsive but I am now a 100% believer. Is there room for improvement - perhaps within the A,T & T network, and the the addition of a few features, but as is, it is the best consumer product out of the box that I have ever owned in my 55 years. Thank Apple - you make me proud to be a believer!
