UMPCfever.com posted a story early this morning showing purported pictures of the next-generation iPhone. As is usually the case with spy shots, the pictures are pretty fuzzy, showing mostly the screen without revealing the body of the phone – it’s claimed in the article that the prototype body can’t be revealed. What? Why bother taking spy shots if you can’t reveal the entire item itself, even when you have it in your hand?
Anyway, the accompanying out-of-focus pictures show the camera in action with an auto-focus indicator on the screen, as well as the still image/video capture toggle in the bottom right-hand corner that’s already known to exist in the 3.0 firmware. There are two comparison pictures, one claimed to be taken with the next-generation iPhone and the other taken with a first-generation iPhone. Between the two, the one claimed to be taken with the next-generation iPhone is clearer, ostensibly because of its auto-focus lens.
There is a picture showing the digital compass application, which has popped up in recent rumors, along with other shots of 3.0 firmware changes that are already known, such as the revised Stocks application and MMS.

Fuzzy pictures never inspire confidence when it comes to upcoming new products, so take this one with a grain of salt…
