Engadget received a slew of photos proporting to be the fourth generation iPhone, which many are calling the iPhone HD. The phone was found on the floor of a San Jose bar and has some interesting features including a front facing camera, 80GB of storage (arbitrary number) and it doesn’t boot up. Prototype? Real thing? Who knows, but check out the photos and let us know what you think.

why on EARTH would it have 80gb of storage? I’ve never heard of any mainstream flash memory configuration outside of your 16, 32, 64, etc. range. Also, it’s not actually all that thick, the silver edge makes it look thicker than it actually is. Why not get that thing in to the hands of someone who can power it up? can’t be all that hard for someone who knows their way around a cell phone’s guts.

not apple? maybe so, considering so many people complain about battery for the iphone. and if apple starts putting batteries on the newer gens, they would save the hassle of labor for the iphone being repaired. also, it’s not that thick. a tad thicker than the iPhone 3G-3Gs, and honestly it’s probably pretty beefed up with a hefty processor, nicer screen, and the two cameras need room too. most likely has an fm radio along with n wifi. who knows.

First off this post is a little late because they proved this is a Japanese close. Second let’s take a look at what makes an apple product and why this could never be one
1. The back of the phone is flat……which was a design feature that was thrown out after the first iPhone, it was changed to be curved so it fits nicely in the hand….and apple is not going to change that
2. It obviously has TOO many hardware parts
3. It has an FCC approval on the back……which is illegal to just stick on a device….and if it was the 4th gen iPhone it would deffinatly have not been approved yet

Actually, the european market (government consumer action) is almost
forcing Apple to make it’s iPhone and iPod Touch consumer friendly by
allowing the consumer to be able to replace the battery themselves.
Apple may now add this feature to it’s next generation of iPones and iPod Touch’s …. if nothing more than to keep it’s european market for these two devices.
