Given that Polaroid pretty much invented the modern instant camera movement, it’s surprising it’s taken the company this long to get involved with the digital version. The $0.99 app Polamatic brings the Polaroid Instant Camera to the iPhone. Much like Instagram, and a million other similar lomo products, you snap a photo and add a filter. This app also lets you chose a Polaroid frame, and scribble a message on the space beneath the photo, before sharing it over the usual set of services.
And yes, there are in-app purchases for more choices.
What remains to be seen is if Polaroid’s name is enough to make this app a success. And I’m just sad you can’t shake your iPhone to make the image develop faster (even though you weren’t actually meant to do that with Polaroid prints).
Here’s the full app description:
Polamatic by Polaroid™ brings back the instant magic of the original Polaroid camera.
Snap or import a photo then select from 12 Polaroid frames, 12 photo filters, write a caption, and finally share your Polaroid with the world!

“I’m just sad you can’t shake your iPhone to make the image develop faster” they missed the boat there…. that would have been cool to pick up on the myth…
