Remember the incredibly cool Pebble watch? The one that set Kickstarter aflame? Unfortunately, the project is so popular, that it’s going to take longer to get them all out, and you won’t be getting your Pebble this September. In a new update, the Pebble team revealed the voter’s choice color (it’s orange), but also that there will be some shipping delays.
In terms of our schedule, we’re sticking pretty closely to an aggressive timetable we put together at the end of May (remember our first timetable was created before we launched on Kickstarter, when we were expecting to manufacture just 1,000 Pebbles). While we won’t be able to start shipping Pebbles in September, our current schedule has us on track to go from manufacturing zero to 15,000 Pebbles per week as soon as possible.
Given that the project has nearly 70,000 backers, I can see why the logistics of it might take longer to organize than originally planned. Unfortunately, there’s no word of when it will ship — but here’s hoping it’ll be before the end of the year. And better that it ship later than ship half-done.
