For the 85,000 or so Kickstarter backers of the Pebble Smartwatch, good news comes from the CES show floor. The massive response to the campaign had the company re-thinking their intitial plans of producing the watches in San Francisco. With manufacturing shifted to China, Pebble CEO Eric Migicovsky said a recent ramp up in production has them producing 15,000 watches each week. This all shapes up for a January 23rd ship date for the first backers of the project.
The Pebble watch interfaces with both iOS and Android apps. It allows you download new watchfaces and receive silent alerts when you receive incoming calls, emails or messages. This is done by interfacing with your phone over Bluetooth.
Pebble is now taking pre-orders for their smartwatch, priced at $150 and available in an assortment of colors.
