OKCupid is a dating site known for doing the unusual, perhaps most famously undertaking massive statistical analyses of their users. Now the company has released a new app, designed to get you going on a date with someone even faster. Dubbed Crazy Blind Date, the app is already available in the Google Play and iTunes App Store,
The app lets you take a photo of yourself, which then gets scrambled to make things a bit more interesting. You then suggest a local place that you’d be willing to meet up, and the app starts connecting you with people to go on a blind date with.
One of OKCupid’s founders talked to the New York Times, and said
“If you ask women what they dislike most about online dating, it’s that it’s too much work. People want instant gratification. It’s the trajectory of the industry.”
The app seems to be geared towards simplicity. Name, age, location, sexual preference, scrambled photo. That’s a lot quicker than spending hours nosing around profiles online.
