What a bizarre and crazy week its been for photo sharing apps. First Instagram overhauled its interface and added a new filter, then Twitter added photo filters, too. Now, for the trifecta, a new updated Flickr app, with — you guessed it — photo filters.
The new, more socially minded, version of the app brings sixteen filters — laid out in a manner similar to any Instagram user. Images can be shared to Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr or email, and the app has improved contact and groups functionality.
The timing of this coincides with the other apps mentioned above so well that it’s quite peculiar — do you think Flickr intentionally launched amidst such heavy competition? And we’re still waiting on a Flickr iPad app to look at images on a big (but mobile) screen.
Here’s the official app update info:
The all-new Flickr App is a complete redesign of the previous version. It’s now easier to use, more beautiful and includes more of the great features you love using on Flickr.com, including:
· Simple sign-up and registration process
· 16 unique camera filters
· Full Groups capabilities
· Explore interesting photos from around the world and nearby
· And more!
