According to 9to5Mac‘s Apple Store sources, the next generation iPad will be released on Friday, March 16th. Rumors yesterday pegged the third generation iPad as potentially being branded as the iPad HD and not the iPad 3, which had been widely assumed. This date ties in with some key Apple Store openings. A new Apple Store in London at Harrod’s is scheduled to open on that date, as well as a new store in Houston, TX.
The Houston location was originally slated for a March 17th opening, but that has since been changed to March 16th.
Last year, the iPad 2 was announced on a Wednesday and released 9 days later on a Friday. Sounds as if that trend will repeat itself with the newest iPad.
