Deep within iPhone Software Update 2.x, Apple has included a software mechanism whereby the device can "phone home", check for unauthorized applications and then disable them.

iPhone OS 2.x includes a URL that points to a page that lists the unauthorized applications. We use the term unauthorized, but what Apple is really setting out to do is to remove malicious applications or as the source code reveals "Being really bad". This could include protecting your personal data and other unscrupulous activity that might occur. Currently, there are not apps which meet this criteria.
