Google continues to develop iPhone interfaces for their popular desktop counterparts, with the latest being Google Translate. It does require a data connection, which could hinder the applications usefullness given the high cost of roaming charges associated with AT&T plans.
Google Translate for iPhone is optimized for speed, supports all of the existing Google Translate language pairs, and uses a client-side data-store on your iPhone to hang on to your past translations so you always have them at hand, even if you can't use the local data network.
One of the Google engineers was able to have 400 phrases translated while roaming internationally for less than $10. If you are unable to pronounce a phrase, you can simply show your iPhone. To try Google Translate for iPhone, point your iPhone or iPod Touch web browser to translate.google.com.
